Sheila Sankaran provides day-to-day oversight of operations, strategic planning, marketing and communications, and business development at KNG Health while also contributing significantly to client reports and proposals. Her recent KNG Health work includes analyses supporting the development of Medicare disproportionate share payment policy. She came to KNG Health with nearly 20 years of experience in the federal government, chiefly with the Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service (ERS) and the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Her federal career comprised several leadership and management positions. At ERS, Ms. Sankaran was the Executive Editor of the agency’s magazine, Amber Waves, and also managed ERS’s intranet, marketing and communications strategy, and external customer relations. At BLS, she divided her time between working as an economist for national survey programs and leading or contributing significantly to several agency-wide management initiatives, such as customer satisfaction measurement, strategic planning, and quality and process improvement.


Ms. Sankaran began volunteering with KEEN before it was a national organization, co-chaired major fund-raising events, served on the Board of Directors and was a founding board member of KEEN USA, where she served as Secretary and sat on the Executive Committee for over a decade.



Ms. Sankaran earned a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Delaware.
